Solid mount but cant see iron sights

I bought this mount to use with a Romeo 5. After assembly, I realized that I could not co-witness my backup irons through the optic. This did not change after mounting the optic on multiple different locations on the upper. I then paired the mount with an HS515GM and found the results to be the same. Not a deal breaker as the mount is QD, but I really like my irons to be usable through the optic. I guess it's not a true lower 1/3.
