The Lewis Machine And Tool Shovelnose MRP-L Upper Receiver is a good starting point for a piston-barrel build or an upgrade to an existing LMT rifle. This 11.5" upper receiver offers generous space along the monolithic rail and the free-float handguard.
Note: Requires the patented LMT monolithic barrel assembly with a low-profile gas block and straight gas tube.

The Shovelnose locks the barrel in place with T-30 Torx bit bolts, letting builders remove the LMT barrel without taking off any M-LOK-mounted accessories first. That makes barrel swaps quicker and keeps an already-configured rail intact between changes.

This thing is money. Installed a p&w Dead Air flash hider on a 14.5" MRP piston barrel and jumped on this upper. If you've put any kind of upper together, even with a Geissele SMR, this monolithic thing is insane. I kept looking it over going "that's it?" Torque, no torque, doesn't matter, it's solid. Just get the screws gud-n-tight. Pulling the barrel and dropping it back in, it still maintains zero. I feel cheated with this build because with a MARS lower, it was TOO easy.

If you are looking at this, it's likely you already know what it is. I wanted to get a Piston specific upper and ended up grabbing one of these. Paired with the 12" piston barrel, its an excellent setup. Typical LMT quality, great fit and finish as expected. The extended length covers that gas block and allows you to get your hand further out, or just have extra space for a light or other accessory. I like how with this upper you *dont* have to remove MLOK accessories to remove the barrel. Also, standard MRP barrels drop right in, so no worries there.
