Most collapsible AR-15 stocks rely on a single lock pin engaging a notch in the buffer tube. It works, but the manufacturing tolerances between pin and notch allow movement — a wobble that most shooters accept as the cost of a lightweight adjustable stock. Magpul's DT (Dual Tensioning) system adds a second retention element: an internal auto-engaging friction lock that applies additional tension against the buffer tube the moment the stock is set in position, without any manual action from the shooter. The single, ambidextrous control lever handles both locking and unlocking — no secondary lock to fumble with — and the friction element engages automatically at each LOP position.
