VERY disappointed
by Sheldon -
I waited a year and a half for MAGPUL to finally market this mag, reading all the hype and watching their cute videos. Finally got one ! I own two AK-74's. A Romanian SAR-2 and a Bulgarian (Arsenal) SLR-104. Imagine my disappointment when I discovered the mag WILL NOT fit the Romanian ! the top rear of the mag hits the receiver support cross bar. No amount of filing/sanding will fix this. I have East German "bakelite" mags, circle 10's and even TAPCO "Interfuse" mags that all fit/function in both of my 74's. Are you telling me that MAGPUL can't do what TAPCO can ? I tried e-mailing MAGPUL for an answer........Crickets. The Bakelite and circle 10 mags are about $40+. The TAPCO's can be had for under $10, if you look around. Guess which ones I'll be getting for a cheap practice/range mag ? To be fair, they will fit/function in the Bulgarian AK, so I'll keep it. But I WILL NOT buy any more.
Badly designed

I have 4 WASR's in 5.45 bought back in the early days when they were cheap.
These won't fit any of the rifles.
Awesome that I had to wait 2 years for them to produce wallets in the mean time, but can't produce a mag that works in the most common rifle of the type.
A Disappointment - Does Not Fit Arsenal
by Zachary
Ordered a few of these for my Arsenal SLR 104. Tried first one out...would seat properly. After trying for about 5 minutes I got the magazine to seat. Thought "maybe its me" grabbed my circle 10.. No issues. Tried my tapco.. No issues. Tried the magpul again. Same problem. All three were the same way. I think they would probably "work" but its a bit of a risk. I'm disappointed they didn't work better. I've never had a poor product from magpul. I will likely return this if possible.
They don't fit.
by Robert
Out of the 4 mags I have only one sort of fits into any of my 5 Romanian rifles. We waited far too long for these and they don't fit the rifles.
Works good

Fits Tantal and nodak spud receivers just fine...would like metal feed lips but for $13 good to go..
74 Pmag

mag WOULD seat in SLR104. However I would have to wiggle it to get it to lock in. I took a Dremel to the locking lug on the magazine, checking every so often until I had an easy and instant fit. To me this wasn’t a big deal. I would buy again for the money.
Fits my 74 perfectly.

Fit perfectly in my AK-74 built on a Childers receiver (Bulgarian). Fits snug and does not flop around when the rifle is shaken, and I don't feel like I'm having to force them in. My circle 10 mag fits the exact same. There is always the possibility of fitment issues with any AK parts, but I didn't find that to be an issue here.
Does Magpul put out junk?
by NunYa -
Worked perfectly fine in my saiga. Purchased 5, all 5 had 0 issues! They're Magpul! Magpul doesn't put out crap!! If you have fitment issues, either take a mm at a time off mag release only, or take to gunshith. Ignorant people cut up mags!
Works and Looks great!

I picked up a few of these to try despite their low star rating and I love them! I have a Nodak receiver on my 74 and they lock up nice and tight with little wiggle room. I have a tapco mag as well and can honestly say that these magpul's work better with my rifle. They also fit better in my m4 mag pouches. I will be buying more of these in the future.
Perfect fit for my Polish Tantal !!!
by J. Hendee
I have a Century Arms-made Polish Tantal. At a gun show I bought 20 x Bulgarian 30rd mags. NONE of them fit my Tantal. The only way to get them to work was to sand off several thousandths on each side of the magazine where it goes in the mag well.
Then I hear that Magpul is making mags for the AK-74/5.45x39mm caliber.
Mine arrived today, I couldn't wait to get it open and check it in my mag well. IT FITS PERFECT !!! Not too thick, not too thin, its just a perfect fit. SUPPOSEDLY the Bulgy mags are some of the best. They do have some nice metal parts at the mag opening, but they don't work in my Tantal.
I bought just ONE Magpul AK-74 mag as a test. I wanted to make sure they fit my rifle. Now I'm going to stock up. I give these Magpul mags a 5-star rating. Plus a lot of places are asking a king's ransom for the Bulgy mags these days. At the price of the Magpul mags, if the SHTF and in so defending, I need to dump the mags and run, this price doesn't hurt as bad.
