Details
Details
The Midwest Industries Lightweight is a free float AR-15 handguard built for shooters trying to cut every extra ounce from their build without sacrificing durability. The M-LOK attachment system lets you mount only the accessories you need, and the slim 1.5" outside diameter keeps the handguard comfortable to grip on lightweight or precision-oriented rifles.
Features:
- 6061 aluminum, Type III hard coat anodized
- Continuous MIL-STD 1913 Picatinny top rail
- Patented 4140 heat-treated torque plate and barrel nut
- Two integral anti-rotation QD sling sockets
- Includes 5-slot polymer M-LOK rail
- Barrel nut and wrench included
- Fully dehorned and deburred
- 100% made in the U.S.A.
This 14" handguard installs at just 9.2 ounces, one of the lightest options in its class, while holding a 1.5" outside / 1.3" inside diameter. It suits mid-length gas systems and leaves enough room for a light, foregrip, and sling mount without adding unnecessary weight.
The torque plate and barrel nut are heat-treated 4140 steel for strength where it matters most, and every handguard ships fully dehorned and deburred for a smooth, snag-free feel in hand.
Midwest Industries builds handguards, rails, and iron sights for popular rifle platforms including the AR-15, AR-10, SIG MCX, and AK-47, backed by a lifetime warranty on every handguard they sell.

Truly lightweight, great quality
by Big D -
I put this on a gibbz side charging upper with a 14.5in pin and weld faxon pencil barrel. I had to file one of the indexing tabs that meets the upper receiver since the gibbz had weird geometry on one side, but a dab of aluminum black had it looking good as new in the spot I filed. I took this to an irons only competiton with some steel flip-up irons and took it out to 300yds for some steel targets. While I am a novice shooter, I had no noticeable issues with consistency on my shots. While I'm not trying to baby my rifle, I haven't had to toss it on the ground or anything, so if you're worried about warping I don't have much experience there. I've had it for over a year. And in that time I've practiced frequently and had no issues thus far. If you want a lightweight handguard but maybe don't wanna shell out for a carbon fiber one, then this one is a great pick. I hope it's in stock again soon!
Excellent for SPR

I threw this rail on both of my SPRs due to their weight. This rail feels and looks great. Fit and finish is what you'd expect from MWI. I wouldn't go with the lightweight rails if you run a laser or any sighting system on the handguard, but for a lightweight rifle for Special purposes, its a great rail.
