Because it slides onto the rail and bolts down, the mount stays put once installed, which suits a rifle that keeps one optic and one zero. It fits a standard Picatinny rail on AR-15, AK, PCC, and shotgun builds. Midwest specifies 40 inch-pounds on the cross bolts. Installation is straightforward: remove the mount's bolts, secure your optic to it, slide the assembly onto the upper receiver's rail, and tighten the cross bolts. Torque the optic's own screws to the optic maker's specification.

This is the lower 1/3 cowitness height, which sets the optic higher so your iron sights appear in the lower third of the optic window. Your backup irons stay visible while you get a clearer view through the optic.
