The Primary Arms Mil/Mil 4-14x44 Front Focal Plane R-GRID features the patent pending R-Grid reticle that stays true through the scope’s entire magnification range of 4x through 14x. The R-Grid features a quick acquisition horseshoe and chevron reticle for short range shots, and a correlated Mil grid for extended long range shooting to 1,000 yards and beyond. A side mounted parallax adjust knob keeps the reticle parallax free and the target image sharp at extended ranges. This tough scope is shockproof, waterproof, and fog resistant, and comes with a lifetime warranty. The illuminated center reticle features 6 brightness settings with an “off” notch between each setting. Optional sun shade PA4-14SS sold separately. A “cat tail” scope lever is also available from 3 Gun Stuff (product code GS-440).

Great scope for beginners or experienced.

I am not a "long range" shooter but just started getting into the hobby. I know nothing about ballistics or drop but a friend has been teaching me. I put this scope on a Savage MKII FVSR .22lr bolt gun with a Silencerco Spectre II . My buddy zeroed it at 50 yards with 3 shots of Gemtech subsonic. We went to the 200 yard range and it took me 2 shots to get onto a 24" plate. A few more shots and I was hitting an 8 inch plate non stop just using the RGRID and watching the wind flags. This was my first time shooting anything at 200 yards. A few weeks later we shot it at 300 yards just using the RGRID It took 3 tries to hit the 24" plate and then it was easy. We moved back to 500 yards. This is where the caliber could not keep up with the scope. There was an 8mph cross wind with gusts to about 13mph. Without adjusting elevation I lobbed a round from the bottom of the RGRID and it was about 100 yards shy. I cranked the elevation to the max and this is where I observed the reticle blurs at the bottom. With the wind and the blurry reticle I relied on the RGRID and was able to place shots all around the 24" gong with just one hit. I think 300 yards is about the realistic max for this setup without wasting ammo. This scope and the Savage was intended for my 10 year old son. He was hitting a 6" plate at 100 yards on his first time out just by me telling him which part of the RGRID to use. It makes it a lot of fun for kids and adults that don't want to mess with dials. I like it so much I will be getting a duplicate for myself.

Surprised

This is just an intitial impression review after its been used on a rifle I will follow up with another review. Purchased due to Primary Arms good reviews online decided to see for myself. I ordered four other items the same night as this scope and even thought all of the other products were located closer to me on the map my Primary Arms scope came first. It came packaged well in an undamaged box. Now my only complaint might as well get it out of the way. The illumination was on and the battery was dead no biggie not my only optic that uses cr2032. Fixed this issue and was rewarded with a bright red horsedhoe and chevron. I love the off positions between each power setting its going to save me batteries. I was impressed with optical quality I honestly expected it to be worse but truthfully the optical clarity is out of its price range. Honestly that's my initial impression of this scope quality way out of its price range. Going on a .338 Lapua so its getting a true test. I will let you know how that goes.

Best scope for the money

This is the best scope for the money you can get ! I am extremely happy with it.The r grid reticle is very nice and it makes it very easy to shoot at long distance.

but.......................................................Bought this when PA first got them in. Finally had a chance to take out for some long range shooting around dusk. Accuracy and clarity get 2 thumbs up...stays zeroed just fine. Went to turn on some reticle illumination and found it only works intermittently. Sometimes on 6 & 3 brightness settings but not the rest..Bought 12/18/2015...A bit bummed after reading exchange policy that states I can't do anything once a scope is mounted...I will say the fine folks at PA are super friendly and go the extra mile to help...no problems there whatsoever.. From PA: Sorry for any confusion but we do not restrict people from returning defective products. Just the opposite.

Don't 2nd guess yourself on purchasing!! Do it now!!

This is the MOST Versatile Reticle you will ever see offered at this price. There is no distortion in clarity going to the high side of the power 10-14. Whether a 22-250 6.5 anything or 300 Win Mag this reticle does it all. I hate to name call but this is like having a Zeiss conquest with a much better reticle...for less the $300!!! Much love to Primary Arms.

First of all Primary Arms has awesome customer service. Brett helped me out a lot when it came to me making up my mind on which scope to buy. His patience and attitude are awesome. Being a novice shooter I purchased what I thought would be the correct scope. Then I changed my mind and sent the original scope back in favor of the ACSS Orion. Before I even received it I realized it was the wrong reticle for me since I don't hunt and Brett let me return it with free shipping both ways. I finally decided on the R-Grid reticle and again Brett shipped it to me with free shipping. I ended up having a problem with the R-Grid scope. The windage turret cap would not come off to allow me to zero it. So again Primary Arms allowed me to ship it back for a replacement with free shipping both ways again! The replacement R-Grid scope has problems with the hash marks on the turrets not lining up perfectly as they should so I'm considering sending this one back as well. I know this isn't a $1000 scope but this kind of problem drives me crazy when it is supposed to be a precision optic. Can't say enough good things about the shipping speed of Primary Arms and the customer service is the best I've found. I just wish the quality control on their scopes was better. The glass is clear and clean and bright the turrets have a positive audible click but a bit mushy. It seems to be built like a tank and all of the adjustments are smooth. I also like the fact that the lighted reticle has an off position between each brightness setting. I guess maybe I'm being a little hard on a scope that cost less than $300 plus you won't find a first focal plane scope for this price anywhere else. So over all it's a good scope and I would recommend it. Primary Arms is an awesome company to do business with thanks Brett!

Love this scope!

I ordered online on Sunday night (I live in Texas) and had it in my hand on Tuesday afternoon. Mounted it on my CZ 550 Deluxe Wednesday night. Took it to the range this morning and bore sighted it. First shot was 2 mils low (at 50 yds.) and 1.25 mils right. I dialed in the 2 up and the 1.25 left and Bam. For the first time in my life I'd done a one shot zero! Turrets had tracked perfectly. No going past the number of clicks and returning to correct number no tapping on the scope with an ammo round just dialed them straight in. Went out to a hundred and held the chevron tip in the center of the bull and was about 3/4 high with a 3 shot 3/4 in group. I'm no dead-eye but am happy. Seeing as how I had a 15 mph variable wind and the cows were standing at my target I didn't shoot at 1000Yds. However I was able to verify that the horizontal bars for ranging are accurate. At 1000 yds on the 1000 yard bar my 15" round steel target was just shy of being as wide as the bar which assumes a 18" target. Also image was clear even elevating the scope all the way down to the lowest mil. Highly recommend and the price can't be beat.
