This Primary Arms MicroPrism is part of the SLx optics line. SLx optics have built a reputation for innovation, reliability, and value. All SLx optics undergo rigorous field-testing during development to best serve you in any environment.

For precision without compromise, the SLx 5x MicroPrism brings an extended range to this lightweight, ultra-compact design. Weighing only 8.5oz with a 3.31" overall length, the SLx 5x MicroPrism is comparable to many red dot sights, though its crystal-clear glass and 5x magnification offer improved precision at even longer distance than the 3x variant. Even in close-quarters, the optic’s wide field-of-view and forgiving eye relief make it easy to snap on target.

Because the SLx 5x MicroPrism uses an etched reticle with adjustable diopter, the user will always have a clear, crisp reticle image, even if they have severe astigmatism. When set to max illumination, the MicroPrism reticle is fully Daylight Bright®. For low-light, this optic offers 3 different NV-compatible settings, accommodating any ambient light level. Paired with the AutoLive® motion-sensing illumination technology, this optic provides an exceptionally long runtime at any brightness setting.

This package also includes the new ruggedized mounting system with industry standard mini-prism footprint, guaranteeing reliability and zero retention through heavy use and adverse conditions. Out of the box, this mount can be set for 8 different mounting heights and configurations, ensuring compatibility with any rifle system.

Great optic but with one flaw

by

Everything from clarity to zeroing and holding zero, brightness and sharpness of the chevron comes out perfectly. Except I have one complaint/negative feedback with experience that really cost my son and I a nice buck. The AutoLive feature! If you are out hunting and sitting still the optic turns off with this feature. Which is one of the reasons (features) I bought this. But unfortunately in order to get the optic to wake up, you gotta kinda give it a hard enough whack to make NOISE and get busted. No biggie, he still got him a piggy latter on. But can we please have a way to disable the AutoLive feature so that doesn’t happen. Other than living on a lightweight hunting AR, it’s also used to show my customers of my optic choice vs what we carry as a small retailer. I recommend this optic for sure.

Best for my use

by

I put on POF rogue 308 ar15.
I hog hunt feeders at 155 yds.
The micro slx5x was all the magnification I need.
I also put a venom rds on an off set 45 mount out on the rail and zeroed at 50 yds just in case I have a surprise during transition or tracking contingency.
The combo is still lighter and smaller than an lpvo and does the job I need.
I’ve still got compact lightweight high power and fast rds both eyes open capability with a crystal clear 5x for the ear shots at mid range.
If I need long range or more precision I just use my 16” 6.5 Grendel with a 1-10lpvo. It’s a tack driver and puts hogs to sleep very neat at any range.

Like it, don't love it, but wanted to

Being a fan of PA's 3x SLx prism optics, I pre-ordered the 5x. Out of the box it met all my high expectations, so I mounted it on a 3” barrel 9mm AR SBR and hit the range. Through 400 rounds the optic performed perfectly, punching single ragged holes out to the (indoor) range's 25-yard max.

So what's not to love? Nothing, and everything.

For closer work (out to 15 yards), it's about 2x overpowered. At 25 yards, while it makes short work of putting rounds on target, the power is enough that holding smoothly steady is a chore, whereas the 3x SLx is right in its sweet spot.

For me, the 5x SLx on a pistol-caliber SBR is not the optimal combination I thought it would be; the effort of keeping it steady eclipses the benefit of the additional magnification.

Mating the 5x SLx with a 5.56 or 7.62/308 is a different story, but I prefer LPVOs on those caliber weapons, and I'm definitely partial to PA's SLx 1-10x SFP optic. A 5x SLx on a Kel-Tec RBD might just be the ticket, however…
