More of a cosmetic upgrade. Prevents you from cleaning out the mud that gets stuck in the traditional mag release groves. Feels better on your finger than others.

Just slightly less than "flat" but works and looks great. Went with the all FDE kit on a black AR and "it really tied the room togther".
