The SilencerCo Gas Defeating AR-15 Charging Handle is built to reduce the gas blowback that direct-impingement AR-15s are prone to when running suppressed.
Features:
- Compatible with AR-15 upper receivers

- Gas-defeating geometry seals the rear of the upper receiver
- Drop-in installation above the bolt carrier group
This charging handle's geometry is designed to better seal the back of the AR-15's upper receiver, making it harder for gas to escape toward the shooter. It drops in above the bolt carrier group just like a standard charging handle, so installation takes most AR-15 owners just a few minutes.

Looks like it does block gas from under the handle when viewed from the side while someone shooting.
A Nice Reduction in Gas to the Face

I noticed a reduction in gas to the face when running my 300BLK AR suppressed. The price stings a bit for a charging handle, hence the 4 star review.

Excellent charging handle, does exactly what it is supposed to do. This is the second generation that fixes the problem of the old one that would fall apart. This one is great, buy with confidence.
Good seal, weak latch

Tried this on my 7.62x39 and it did a great job of mitigating gas at the rear when it stayed latched. About every 3rd shot it would unlatch and come back with the bcg and boop my nose. Swapped it with the radian sd on my 300blk, and it works well with that gun which has a lot less recoil.
