Fine-tune your carbine's cycling and felt recoil with the right buffer weight. The Sons of Liberty Gun Works H2 Carbine Buffer adds mass over a standard carbine buffer, slowing bolt carrier velocity for smoother cycling, reduced felt recoil, and more reliable extraction in high-pressure or over-gassed carbine-length gas systems.
The Sons of Liberty Gun Works H2 Carbine Buffer is a 4.6-ounce carbine-length buffer designed for AR-15 carbine-length buffer systems, providing additional mass over a standard carbine buffer to moderate bolt carrier velocity and improve cycling behavior in carbine-length gas systems.
Three reasons to run an H2 buffer over a standard carbine weight. Additional mass slows the bolt carrier's rearward velocity, reducing the impact force against the rear of the buffer tube and the felt recoil impulse transmitted to the shooter — particularly noticeable on rifles running carbine-length gas systems that tend toward over-gassing. Slower bolt carrier velocity also extends the time available for the case to extract cleanly before the carrier reaches the ejection stroke, improving reliability with higher-pressure ammunition or suppressed configurations where gas pressure elevates dwell time. At 4.6 ounces, the H2 sits between a standard carbine buffer and a heavier H3, making it a practical first step for shooters dialing in a carbine that short-strokes or batters the buffer tube under hard use.
For carbine-length buffer systems only. Not compatible with A5, intermediate, or rifle-length receiver extensions. Verify buffer tube compatibility before installation.
Weight: 4.6 oz. Carbine-length specification.
Suited for over-gassed carbine-length AR-15 builds, suppressed carbine setups, and any carbine-length configuration where a heavier-than-standard buffer improves cycling behavior or reduces felt recoil.
