The Vortex Defender-CCW is an ultra-rugged compact red dot optic for concealed carry and personal protection with a 6 MOA red dot reticle, large, distortion-free viewing window for a clear sight picture, and a unique front rack texture that allows shooters to easily rack the slide of their handgun off of virtually any surface. Built from rugged aluminum with an anodized black finish, the Defender-CCW is waterproof, fog proof, and shockproof and features a large viewing window compared to optics of a similar size, giving shooters an unobstructed, clear-sight picture. The Defender-CCW utilizes the Shield RMSc optic mounting footprint, and includes a Picatinny-compatible mount for pistol caliber carbines, rifles, shotguns, and other platforms. Powered by a top-loaded CR1632 battery, this micro red dot optic provides up to 9500 hours of operation thanks to Vortex's motion activation technology. Be aware that what is being sold here is an outdated version of this optic. My box was dated 2022. Vortex has updated this optic due to the frustration of owners with the ridiculously long 14hr auto shut-off. The current Vortex Defender CCW model is a 10 minute auto shut-off. The other enhancement they have made is regarding the refresh rate. On the original model which is what PA is selling has a terrible refresh rate which results in visible motion blur as the dot moves.
It seems that if you want the current model which is much more usable, you will have to purchase it from another vendor.
Best open emitter for the money

I bought an original version when these first came out. I was disappointed with the emitter flicker and the auto shut off being 14 hours. Vortex has since updated this optic with a higher quality emitter with no flickering and the auto shut off is 10 minutes. I hit up vortex and they took my old one back and gave me a brand new one without question. The new one I got is excellent and I don't think it can be beat for the money, not to mention the warranty is great.
The included 365XL screws do seem to be too long and I had to file them down though. Not sure what the deal was with that.

Suspect Shipping and Packaging?!

Not sure but hope this isn’t refurbished or a clone. Package did not have round tape dots or factory seal at all. There was no quality control card on top, like I’ve seen on other unboxing videos. Red Dot, hardware, battery and instructions were included. Dot functions. Have not tested yet. Also was shipped in the same package with my steel plate body armor I ordered. So needless to say red dot box was crushed. Great price, but truly banking on the Vortex warranty on this one.
