The Wilcox G24 is designed to break away but the mount can be securely locked in place to the base if necessary. Under stressed, dynamic situations where it's possible to get an operator's NVG system snagged in repelling ropes or striking a hard object during egress of an area, the breakaway portion of the Wilcox G24 is specifically designed to "break away" in order to minimize and reduce physical injuries and equipment damage.

Wilson put a lot of thought into development and production of the G24 mount which gives the operator the ability to adjust their front/back position of the NVG and vertical height and tilt. A low profile mount, the G24 allows firm attachment of a variety of NVG systems to MICH/ACH helmets using any type of night vision compatible shroud. Made of lightweight aerospace grade metal, the Wilcox G24 break away mount is both dependable and durable and made to withstand the rigors of night or low-light missions.

Like anything else quality gear is expensive. Yes, this mount is high af but you get what you pay for. Why use a cheap mount on your high dollar night vision investment. It also allows for enough outward travel to use with my Mira CM-8 mask . Get one!
