Anderson Manufacturing AR-15 Upper Receiver Assembly

Bought an Anderson upper after seeing so many positive reviews. Very happy with it, there were no blemishes or imperfections, installed my Ballistic Advantage barrel and supporting parts without any issues. Would definitely buy again.

I bought this receiver to replace an original M&P sport that didn't have the dust cover or forward assist. I used anti seized and seasoned the threads. Torqued the barrel to 40lbs and put the A2 front sight post back on and it is canted to the left. Couldn't figure it out so I put the barrel back on the old receiver and lined the gas block up and its perfectly straight. The slot on the Anderson where the barrel pin slides into the receiver is off just a little bit to the left and couldn't tell until I installed the front sight post. What a letdown. Guess Ill stick with Aero or PSA from now on.

Just spend the extra 30 bucks and get a MUCH BETTER upper, the look and finish was pretty good but the machining of the M4 feed ramps were WAY OFF the feed ramps were spaced way to far out from each other and would not line up with the feed ramps on the barrel at all, there was a huge gap where the barrel overhung the feed ramps on the upper which I know for a fact would result in feeding issues. I just bought an AERO precision upper and the finish is nicer , the machining is more accurate and the M4 feed ramps line up perfectly with the barrel now. Don’t cheap out on gun parts.

Fit so tight on my lower there was no room for a wedge under the take down pin. Looks flawless. Will buy another as soon as I can.

My 3 items arrived. There was minimal paper packing material/cushion used. It was obvious that the items moved about freely in transit. The Magpul stock was in a sturdy factory package. The Anderson stock hardware kit was also in a sturdy factory package. The upper was loose in the box. A very light duty plastic sleeve with a label marked AR15 A3 UPPER was also loose in the box.

The upper had a ding with the finish removed down to bare metal. The ding was on the rear outside edge just below where the charging handle would be. NOT GOOD.

I have purchased other Anderson uppers and lowers from other sources and have never received one that was not packaged. I have to wonder why this one was not. I'm also wondering when and how the ding occurred.

Just to be clear, I don't lose sleep over dings and scratches on my firearms, but I should be the one to put them there. A $70 part should arrive factory new and protected from damage.

The finish on the upper I received is bad. Very inconsistent and lots of machining marks and random dings. It looks like it was spray painted. I have several Anderson uppers and lowers and this i the first one that hasn't been perfect. It honestly looks like a blem. Returning for a refund.

I ordered this receiver to upgrade a S&W M&P 15 sport without forward assist and dust cover. Fits well with no gaps.

I have built at least a half-dozen complete uppers with the Anderson Manufacturing upper receivers - both stripped & assemblies. All have been of the highest quality with no flaws. There is some slight variation in fit with different lowers, but that is to be expected.

Can & will say the same about AM's lowers, too.

I have 2 Anderson uppers, this being one of them. They are great and I haven't had any issues. The finish is just as good as my bushmaster and my buddy's S&W.

This upper fit my Spikes lower like it was custom made for it and finish matched perfect too! I was skeptical because it was cheap but its just as nice maybe nicer than any other upper I've ever bought.
