The “SPR” profile stands for “special purpose rifle”. This moniker is descriptive of the type of shooting that this barrel is best for. Since it heats and cools more slowly due to the fact that the area under the handguard is heavier and the taper toward the muzzle is slight. This heavier 46.2 oz barrel was meant to cater to the shooter who needs a less dramatic effect from a thinner lighter profile which can lose accuracy after heating up to a certain point. Additionally, you can put a high number of rounds through the barrel over its lifetime, meaning it is a decent option for those who practice a lot, but need the long range, long-life potential of this heavier profile.

Mediocre at best

Let’s start by saying I am not an F-class shooter. But I can shoot MOA or just under consistently. I first cleaned the barrel before installing. I then started with a break in process recommended by Ballistic Advantage. After about 150 rounds this barrel will NOT shoot any better than an inch and half. I have tried factory ammunition. Along with tying 4 different bullets over 3 different powder combinations. With no success. I’m at the point of diminishing return, and asking myself do I waist more components and keep trying or just give up. This is still to be determined at this time. If I had to do over again, I would have saved a bit more and bought a more premium barrel. The old saying of buy once / cry once definitely applies here.
Nice barrel

This is the second build using this barrel. Both have been very good shooters. I have no doubt that I will be using more in the future.

Purchased this to replace a .224 Valkyrie barrel that was not performing. I couldn’t be happier. It arrived well packaged, and looked great. After assembling my upper, my results were excellent. 1/2” @ 100 yards with Hornady 103 grain Precision Hunter, and 1” @ 200 yards with Hornady Black 105 grain. This barrel is a keeper.
6mm ARC 20" Premium Series Barrel

I received this barrel, had all I needed to make this upper. Assembled one day, shot the next day. At 100yds this upper shot for group. 3 shots were 3/8" first group. After first group stopped, and shot again next day. Shot one group, off better rest, it was 3/8" for 4shots and 3/4" for 6 shots. Absolutely love this barrel. Ammo was, Hornady Match, 108gr ELD. Great round.
