FailZero EXO Coated .308 Bolt Carrier Group - DPMS Pattern

The finish is pretty slick brand new, unfortunately that's the end of positives. After receiving, I disassembled the bolt to inspect all of the parts and noticed that the firing pin was not fully coated and had spots of exposed metal. Failzero did not address the issue after emailing pics and a video. The reports that you do not need to lube the bolt are not accurate. My AP M5 in .308 failed to extract several times within my first 10 rounds so I pulled the bolt and oiled at the range. This helped but still had a failure to extract and also light strikes every so often. The Failzero bolt loses its shine after the first use with a smoky patina developing. The bolt and pin "stained" dark gray more than the same parts on any of my other AR15 or AR10 bolt/pins (I have 8 others). Cleaning the bolt is actually fairly easy if you ignore the fact that the metal patinas really dark. Overall, average bolt performance for a high price.

Looks and feels good but after about 20 rounds, I started having failure to extract after every one or two rounds. Now looking to upgrade the ejector spring or try an enhanced ejector from JP

First one I got had no extractor spring in the bolt, it was either missing or broken. After receiving the replacement from PA, the second one fits way too tight into the barrel extension, and the bolt rotation is also much, much stiffer than any other BCG I've ever used. This first and only 100 rounds of use, the BCG went back into battery on its own 8-10 times. The other 90 times it cycled the bolt stopped shy of battery by about an inch, due to the increase in friction from the stiff bolt rotation (robbing energy coming out of battery), and improper bolt-to-barrel fitment. I checked every other part of my build for proper fitment, and found no issues. Swapped this BCG into other AR-10s, and they had the same failures. Swapped other BCGs into my AR-10, and had no problems.

Lots of happy FailZero customers out there, unfortunately I got two junk parts.

Built my first AR308 and went with fail zero, it’s a solid choice. I’ve had zero issues or malfunctions, I’d definitely recommend.

Great product/ will fit PSA AR-10 G3. Runs smooth with no issues.
Note: Instead of having a pin to disassemble the BCG (for cleaning), it is a screw instead of a pin, make sure you use a small screwdriver. Overall, I am very pleased with this product.
