Details

Free float handguards offer many improvements to the standard two-piece Mil-Spec AR-15 handguards. They reduce pressure on the muzzle end of the barrel which increases accuracy, offer more customization in terms of accessory mounting options, and come in many different lengths and profiles. The Foxtrot Mike Products FM-9 Ultra Light handguard features a slim profile with M-LOK attachment points along the full 15” in length. It is machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and has a type III hardcoat anodized finish for excellent corrosion resistance. This AR-15 free float handguard is compatible with all Mil-Spec upper receivers and most low-profile gas blocks, so you have the freedom to build your rifle the way that you want. It is easy to install with the included proprietary barrel nut and eight hardened steel screws to ensure that it won’t loosen over time. This M-LOK handguard also has a full length picatinny top rail that mounts flush with M4 flat top upper receivers to give you more mounting space for scopes, red dots and iron sights. If you are looking to upgrade your current rifle or build a new one, you can’t go wrong with this FM products AR-15 handguard.

Awesome and super light!!
No special tools needed to install (I used a 30mm adjustable wrench).
Tightened the barrel nut and checked alignment of the rail, a few taps tighter aligned right up to the top rail. Super easy!
I was nervous reading the reviews about the barrel nut and shims not included. I also read that the barrel nut was redesigned, and yes, the barrel nut was redesigned so no shims needed as the barrel nut is designed properly.

Very sturdy!! For the ultra-lightness of this rail.

This Foxtrot Mike Free Float 15-inch rail was the best bang for my money IMO.

Only downfall is "No downfall"!!

Love this on my OCC

I put this on my PCC build with a shrouded barrel. Very nice look, fit & finish. This is an excellent handguard for a low price. It takes a 1 3/16 wrench to install the ID is small and some M-Lok screws may come close to the barrel. I had to trim the screws to keep them away from my barrel extension / shroud.

Bolts to small but awesome customer service and product

Great handguard for the price. I did have a slight issue due to the bolts being to small for the holes in the barrel nut. Made a quick call to foxtrot and they said they would ship new bolts out asap! I'm happy with the purchase. For the price you cant beat it.

Bolts too small for barrel nut threads.

Product looks and feels great, however, the 8 bolts that came with my Handguard are too small to catch the threads on the barrel nut. Not PA’s fault, but I had problems with my first Handguard (not this product) they were quick on helping me get that issue resolved, but 2 problems with 2 different products. This time I emailed the actual company to help resolve this issue.

Barrel wahsers missing, but able to install and looks nice

I have upgraded the original review. Fit was tight, barrel nut needed a bit of persuasion to come out of rail as received but in the end it fit well and looks really good. I would have liked to have rated a 5 but the missing spacers was a disappointment.

Missing barrel nut shims

Low rating because part arrived without shims. You may want to check before ordering if this is a problem with all or just this one. Primary has offered to RMA and their service is the best as always. Will update if I can install without shims.

Installed in less than 20mins

Got it and installed it onto my 16” barrel windham weaponry AR15 within 20mins... looks good and feel amazing. I would say the longest part of the install was barrel but alignment. But other than that I can’t wait to use it

Great Buy

Surprisingly good quality for the price paid. The barrel nut was a bit of a pain due to the odd size compared to the tooling I had on hand but not that big of a deal. Fit was really good, handguard feels good in the hand as well. Already thinking about buying another one.

Good product and price

Great service and speedy shipping from PA as usual. Hand guard appears good quality and install was fairly easy- I did need a few of the shims. I like e 15" length- both looks and utility and the MLok slots are great. Wish the guards had anti-rotation tabs, but that's my only complaint. I would recommend to others.
