NOTE: The carbine length MOE SL Handguard requires a round front handguard retaining cap and rear spring-loaded delta ring. Triangular retaining caps and are not compatible. Must be used with the A2 front sight assembly. Other gas blocks are not compatible. If present, the factory sling swivel must be removed from the A2 front sight assembly.

Decided to replace the M4 style (actually CAR-15) handguard (which had no heat shielding) on an older AR. Have the MOE Slim-Line Handguard on another AR and really like them. Typical Magpul quality. Best 2-piece polymer handguard I've come across. Would not hesitate to use them again.

I read a lot of reviews saying these are hard to install without a D-ring tool. They do require a little more effort to install than standard hand guards but i had them on just a few mins just using my hands and a small screwdriver.These handguards look and feel great on the rifle.* Eohtech 512 and 552 will not work with these due to height of handguard above rail.

I really like this handguard, it really made my AR feel a lot more solid and I like how you can grip farther up compared to normal carbide handguards. It is pretty hard to get on even with two people due to the extra length but once it's on it's great!

I'm not a Magpul fanboy, let's state that now. They do make quality stuff and at good prices. For the most part though I think this thing is hideous, but fit and function is spot on. I just had to ditch the A2 guards on my 10.5 temporarily. This will be replaced soon I just had to divert money elsewhere. The next lo - pro gas block, and free float rail will be permanent. So if you don't care about looks and just wanna cheap alternative to stock guards it'll do the job.

Design Issues - Too High

The top portion has a design flaw!The top portion is slightly raised above the rail line, hardly noticeable until you actually lay it upside down. MY PERSONAL GRIP, is that have this nice indent in the front to let you know when you've hit the end of the guard. However, this "double" raise-above-rail-line causes the MBUS flip-up to not actually flip-down.Everything else seems to be an upgrade from their original MOE:- Feel is about right- Feels sturdier- Definitely slimmer- Gas Block cover for your protection
