The Magpul MOE SL carbine handguard replaces the bulky factory clamshell on standard AR-15 carbines with a slimmer, M-LOK-equipped profile that improves ergonomics without requiring a new upper. Built for AR-15 owners who want to modernize a carbine-length build quickly and affordably, this drop-in handguard installs in minutes on any compatible delta-ring upper.
The MOE SL carbine-length is a drop-in AR-15 handguard designed to upgrade delta-ring carbines with a slimmer grip profile and M-LOK accessory mounting capability.
The MOE SL's reduced 1.8-inch width creates a more natural grip compared to the wider factory handguards found on most mil-spec carbines. M-LOK slots at the 2, 6, and 10-o'clock positions let you mount lights, grips, and accessories precisely where needed, while front and side lip extensions shield your support hand from the heat of the gas block during extended shooting sessions.
Requires a round front handguard retaining cap, rear spring-loaded delta ring, and A2 front sight assembly. Triangular retaining caps are not compatible. Remove the factory sling swivel from the A2 assembly if present. Total length is 8.9 inches and weight is 6.7 ounces.
Made from reinforced, heat-resistant polymer with an integral riveted aluminum heat shield that absorbs and dissipates barrel heat during sustained fire.
This is a practical upgrade for M4-style carbines, training rifles, and any delta-ring AR-15 where improving ergonomics and adding M-LOK compatibility are the priority.

Such an easy and worthwhile drop-in upgrade for your standard guard. Very solid fit. The extra 1.5 or 2 inches of polymer under the gas block is awesome. You don’t realize you’re missing it.
Great hand guard upgrade

Most of the rifles in my collection have fancy monorail hand guards and those have their place. But, a good ol’ A2 upper with a fixed front sight is my go to truck gun. I replaced the stock plastic handguard with the Magpul MOE at first, but eventually swapped that one for this slimmer version. I’m a large man with large hands, so the MOE fit alright, but the extra slim fit of this handguard, combined with the extra room it adds to the front, is where it’s at. Plenty of room for an IWC extended light mount and any other MLOK extras. They are a tad tricky to put on at first, but if you are patient and squeeze the extended tabs from the lower portion into the tabs from the upper portion first, that will allow you to install it a little easier. Great d ring handguard replacement

Great product for those of us who want to upgrade the look of our rifles that have old style handguards. Fit and finish is perfect as you would expect from magpul. One thing you need to consider is that the front sling keeper needs to be removed to install this handguard. If it is riveted in like mine was, that is a real pain to take out. As always, primary arms had great prices and really fast shipping.
If you're looking for a great look and feel, this IS for you. Perfect for an AR pistol.

This is great!
Got it in faster than I thought, popped it on, looks clean and like it's called, 'slim'.
Feels great in my hand, easy to grasp.
Makes the AR pistol super easy to move around for CQ training.
Only down side, had to lose the forward sling mount on the A2 sight.
Nothing against the old clamshell style, still have it on my rifle, but on the pistol this looks made for it.
If they could do this in a wood grain, I would get one for the AR 15-45 I am going to build. Give it that old style Thompson appearance.
Great feel and endless mount possibilities

(Ruger AR-556) I love these guards but holy smokes they were tough to get on! Luckily the delta ring on the Ruger is threaded so you do not need the tool to back it off (you just twist it all the way back.) The feel is sturdy the shape of the grip is perfect for my average sized hands and I love the coverage over the gas block. Primary Arms has the lowest price for these guards as well. $34.99 from Magpul $39.99 at Bass Pro & Cabelas - $33 at Primary Arms.
Good Handguards

Some IssuesOverall very good. I did have to cut about an inch off the bottom section to clear the stock FSB sling mount. Also had to cut off a tab of the upper heat shield to accommodate a rail section and flash light. So some small dremeling may be required.

Good quality, takes a little tweaking to get it on , but is rock solid. Will probably buy more for future builds.
