Ballistic Advantage Performance Series 5.56 Hanson Mid-Length AR-15 Barrel with Pinned Gas Block - 16"

Very nice barrel, quick shipping, my only issue is i didnt realize it was 1/7 twist.. totally on me.

Undersized gas port. Does not function. Nobody’s been any help. I’ve called Ballistic Advantage and I’m getting a “email sent out with return information tomorrow” every day when I call for a week. Primary Arms said they’d email BA and get me a email sent out… that was 3 days ago. First and last Ballistic Advantage product I will ever buy. Seeing as they are owned by Aero, it will make me second guess buying any Aero part as well. I was extremely hopeful when I spoke to BA customer service the first couple times, now I’m stuck with a 175 dollar paper weight.

They part came in good condition in a sealed bag, the Nickel barrel extension is great and incredibly smooth, as well as, fits nice and snug inside the upper.
It is not my ideal contour, as my shooting schedule is a bit higher, and it is not balanced as well as a medium contour barrel. Definitely WAY better than Gov profile, and would be an awesome choose for new shooters.

If you're trying to build a bomb proof rifle the is lightweight but still has some accuracy after it gets hot, this is the wayto go.

I recently installed this barrel on a mostly Aero Precision build. I took it to the range today to sight in a new optic and was easily getting sub MOA groups once zeroed. That is with a mil-spec trigger. I also really like knowing the gas block is pinned. Incredible accuracy. And the mid-length gas system makes for a very smooth and mild recoil impulse. The Hanson barrel profile prevents the rifle from feeling front-heavy. Highly recommended.

I’ve built countless ARs since 2007 and I feel like I’ve found the best bang for the buck as far as barrels go. A pinned gas block has always been a must for me and it’s nice that I don’t have to drill the pin hole for it. It should be noted that all BA barrels I have ever worked with fit extremely tight into the host upper. You will definitely want to have a heat gun handy to heat the upper up before installing the barrel. I have no doubt this barrel is capable of sub-moa with match ammo. It’s already printing about 1.5 moa with cheap pre-COVID purchased M193. Highly recommended.

I had a similar issue as the May 2021 review. Unlike the other review I’d only get the occasional fail to feed but it would never do a last round bolt hold open. I checked all the usual stuff like the BCG, bolt catch, buffer and spring but after thinking about that negative review I began to think my barrel were also under gassed. In my case 80% of the time it would cycle the round but 100% of the time it never had enough gas for to do a LRBHO. i looked online and found another resource stating he had to open his port using a 5/64 bit or .0781 decimal. I carefully opened my port being cautious not to punch though and damage the inside of the barrel while only taking a little metal off at a time and cleaning the bit as I drilled. Once drilled I ran a brush and patches through to knock off any burrs. I took it to back to the range and LRBHO works flawless as it should. The shell ejection pattern is right at 3 o'clock, condition corrected, barrel is accurate so no complaints

Really great barrel; roll pin was a little challenging to install for block but once it was in everything was lined up perfectly

Nothing but good things to say about ballistic advantage and this barrel is quality. I really like the pinned gas block, made install easy.

Overall the fit and finish are fantastic. Combined with a 15 in. MI Combat rail and the rifle just feels balanced. Love the profile of the barrel. Unfortunately have not shot yet as I’m waiting for a few more parts. Will update if accuracy is for some reason disappointing but that’s highly unlikely. As of right now, will definitely buy more Hanson barrels.
