Nice glass with a big window, but the reticle is meh
by Drew -
Pros:
+Large window
+Clear glass (better than Holosun)
+AA batteries are ubiquitous
+Well constructed
+Made in USA
Cons:
-Reticle is quite blurry and splotchy
-Poor battery life compared to Holosun
-No solar backup
I knew that the projected laser reticle wouldn't be as clear and sharp as an LED, but I was not expecting it to be blurry and not well defined. Full disclaimer: I do have astigmatism, and have similar problems with most red dots, except for Holosun.
For me personally, the perfect HWS would combine the best features of the EOtech 512 and the Holosun 510c. And I suspect many people will actually be better off with the 510c if it is going on their SHTF or home defense weapon. If the 512 had a reticle as clean and clear as the Holosun, I'd be happier. I'm also aware that you're supposed to focus on the target in the background, but for CQB applications, that doesn't drastically affect my focus or improve how the reticle looks.
Eotech 512

Whats left to say bout the 512 its been a proven sight for yrs. I always opt for the 500 series because of the batteries it uses you can always find AA even at the worst of times.
Eotech 512

Primary Arms shipped my Eotech 512 super fast, just like every other order I ever placed with them. Prices are great as well as their selection. Definitely my favorite place to order from.
It’s an EOTECH. Just get it.
by RangerDoc -
EOTECH high quality. Durable. Uses AA batteries. EOTECH’s are known to have a fuzzy dot but that’s by design. The EOTECH is better than a traditional red dot for those of us with astigmatism.
100% pure high end

I’m an optics nerd and I gotta say, this thing is amazing, super duper small aiming point if you lower the brightness, very quick on target, extremely well built handles my AR10 recoil with no issues, arrived 2 days early, super clear glass almost doesn’t even look like your looking through glass at all. Truly premium optic. And the fact it uses AA batteries makes it a SHTF must.
Best sights out there!

You can spend less, but Red Dots (as cool as they are) aren't a Hologram. Glad I finally spent the money on an Eotech (painful as that may have been :) as quality really is remembered long after price is forgotten!
Battle dot

Pretty cool for a cheap optic
Factory zero 105% on

This was zeroed right out of the box on my .50 Beowulf, I’ve got a few of them now and I enjoy them. AA batteries are plentiful as well.
Not crisp
by Jay -
Apparently I am one of the few that feel this way after reading some of these reviews but this is not crisp at all. It is very grainy and apparently with holographic sights "that's just how they appear". Primary Arms took it back with no issues. I guess I didn't do enough research on these but IMO if I'm spending around $500 I want it to be perfect.
