The Geissele Automatics Super 42 Braided Wire Buffer Spring and Buffer Combo uses a unique three-strand braided buffer spring similar to the legendary German MG42 machine gun. This arrangement allows for better energy absorption and harmonic dampening by allowing the springs to flex separately against each other, increasing the reliability and improving the function of your AR-15. Includes a heavy carbine buffer.

Note: This combo is not suggested for use with 300 Blackout subsonic ammunition.

Features:
  • Designed after the MG42 machine gun recoil spring
  • Provides a longer spring life and more reliable function
  • Includes a heavy carbine buffer

For use with AR-15 Carbine receiver extensions only, will not work with A5 length or rifle length extensions.

Just buy it, trust me

I was really annoyed with the "Twang" that a long, loose spring would make while reverberating inside of a hollow aluminum tube... It made any AR feel (sound) cheap no matter what the build quality was. And once you hear it, you can't unhear it anytime you pick one up and rack it. I had heard all sorts of silly sounding solutions but then I got a suggestion from a friend pointing me to this little piece. Long story short - I got my first one 6 years ago and now I have one in EVERY one of my AR builds. The benefits don't just end with the elimination of the twang but the functioning of the rifle and the feel all benefit from the heavy buffer weight and braided springs. Trust me just buy one and see for yourself!

Must have over milspec

Premium buffer tube and spring, definitely best money can buy and I’ll never use milspec cheap buffer again. You can hear and feel the difference between the two

Gotta have this

Don’t use a cheap Mil-speck buffer again, Geissele Super 42 stop the twang sound in the buffer when firing your Rifle and helps will recoil, and makes a smoother operation of your gun, definitely worth the lil extra.

When you need a flat shooter....

The secret is out on these and they are fantastic. In recoil reduction they are more effective than the JP Silent Captured buffers but the later has them beat in noise reduction. The buffer is not proprietary and readily accepts other brands like the Spikes buffers. I love running these in H2 form in AR pistols with a carbine length gas system as it makes for a very flat shooting rig. I am not what black magic the wizards at Geissele weave into these springs but they are high performance parts. Buy one snd promise you it will not be your last. The recoil sensation these provide is addicting.

Geissele Super 42

Love this spring. It's extremely quiet without the twang sound. It's not complicated and installs like any other buffer spring would.

Will buy again for my next build

No vibrations or "twang" no scratchy noises installed 1 year ago with no issues whatsoever on my custom built ar paired with the single stage Geissele trigger will buy again for my next build.

Awesome

No twang, great quality, great cycling. It's all I buy pretty much.

Works great but not for .224 Valkyrie builds

I have two of these buffer systems and I've never had an issue with either of them and it removes that twang standard carbine buffer systems have. I bought the second originally for a .224 Valkyrie build I was working on. I spoke with Geissele via email asking if it would work, they told me it was designed for .223/5.56 but they couldn't give me a solid yes or no. I bought it thinking if it does great and if it doesn't I would swap it with one of my other 5.56 AR's. In my experience I couldn't get it to cycle properly. It would eject the spent case but it was short stroking and failing to strip the next round. I tried several magazines and I always got the same result. I was using a low pro non-adjustable gas block on a 20" Wilson Combat Fluted Super Sniper barrel. The handguard I was using wouldn't allow any .850 adjustable gas blocks to clear the inside diameter. Ater switching to a standard buffer and spring my cycling issue went away.

Worth every penny

I have installed it on my custom AR-15 no issues whatsoever put hundreds of rounds worked every time worth every penny.

You are gonna want one of these.

I replaced my Strike Ind. flat wire spring with this one. That spring was great but I wanted to try a Geissele in my URGI upper. It is about 3 inches shorter than the Strike so that concerned me. 600 rounds later I am no longer concerned, this braided wire spring and buffer is really slick. I cant tell that changed the sound of the action but it has made the recoil impulse better. It is hard to explain but this spring results in a really smooth and gentle recoil impulse. This is most evident with rapid fire, trying to keep the rounds impacting in the same spot. My gun is a mid length gas so I am not sure about carbine length results. I have had no short strokes or cycling issues or any sort. It has been 100 percent.
