Adjusting the zero of the dot is made easy with the 1/2 MOA audible click adjustments that are protected by aluminum caps. Also included with this optic is a bikini lens cover to protect the glass when not in use. This fits my Budget

by

This sight is EXACTLY what I was looking for. A solid reliable red dot for recreational shooting.Priced right and shipped fast

works great

by

I bought the Primary Arms micro dot. It is bigger than the Bushnell TRS; but the recticle seems to be sharper. The PA sight seems well built and sturdy. I'd recommend it.

havent field tested yet but...

by

awesome little sight for the price. also got the absolute witness riser made by primary arms. comes with everything you need, even comes with some lock tight and the proper allen key. super clear glass and looks and feels good. not sure how it preforms in the field since the weather has been shot the past couple days, but so far great sight.

Excellent 1-8 for a more than fair price

by

I have had this scope for a while nearly since they came out. First I have to say the price is excellent when compared to other scopes of this quality and magnification range. I have read lots of comments around the internet saying the price needs to be similar to other PA offerings but they seem to be coming from the uninformed. The appropriate comparisons for this scope are the 1-8 offerings from USO Leupold & Bushnell. It also is similar in quality to 1-6 options from Leupold (Mark 6) Kahles and Vortex (Razor). I have had or have used each of the scopes mentioned above (except for the USO) and the Platinum 1-8 is excellent. It is more than a step up from other 1-6s like SWFA's SS 1-6. Arguably the most important features of a scope in this range is the glass mechanics and reticle. In each of these areas I rate the scope at 4.5-5 stars. The glass is excellent and deserving of the price (or more). I have the Mil reticle and find it a nice balance of uncluttered at 1x for quick acquisition or sufficiently precision-capable when at 8x. Of course it isn't going to do what a 3-15 or higher scope will do for precision but should be an excellent choice for a 14.5-18 rifle out to somewhere around 700 yards. I have found the clicks to be very good in feel and true. I think it is about the perfect scope for a Recce because it can be set at 1x and work well with both eyes open or zoomed in for longer shots (would also work for a SPR if you're not a magnification junkie). I also think it would be a very good optic for hunting where you wont have shots over 200 or don't want a larger optic riding on top of your rifle/shotgun. The only thing I wish was different was that is came in at a lower weight but again it compares well with most scopes of this quality and magnification. I have also seem some concerns about buying a PA scope at this level but with PA's customer service and a lifetime warranty I don't see how you can go wrong. If a 1-8 fits your purpose I think this is by FAR the best value in high end optics available.

Solid Red Dot

excellent value!!!Primary Arms does it right I am extremely impressed with the value of their optics for the price paid.I have this RD on a Ruger AR with a UTG .83" riser which gives me a lower 1/3 co-witness sight picture. It has a removable base (which I believe matches the Aim Point type/style base) that can be changed to acquire different heights if desired. The 2 MOA dot is bright and crisp. I have an astigmatism so the dot occasionally looks out of round to my eye but that is no fault of the MFG.Adjustments clicks are positive and stable. After sighting in my shots are consistently placed to POA. Battery life is rated for 1K hours I turned mine on (setting 4) the day I received it and 6 weeks (1008) hours later the dot was still just as bright so it will exceed the advertised battery life.Be sure to use just a tad of blue locktite on the 4 base to optic screws as well as on the base mount screw to keep it stable and don't over-tighten them.

Very Good Red Dot

by

I bought this for my Wife's Ruger 10/22 carbine. She was hitting all over a target consistantly never mind the range. I bought this Red Dot for her for Valentines Day. I took the liberty of bore sighting it then to the range ( 25 yd limit). I had to make a couple of adjustments but once that was done this rifle ran great and very very accurate. It seems as clear and nice as the Match Dot Ultra Dot IV on my .22 target pistol and as the Aimpoint on my AR. Really good Sight based on one long outing with it. Thanks Mark

Excellent Value Despite the Removable Base

by

Haven't gotten it to the range yet but everything on it is excellent so far. Finish is great dot is crisp optic is simple to use and all gadgets and gizmos work as they should. All except for the removable base. I've been going at it in order to create a perfect co-witness with my riser for awhile now but even after removing the four retaining screws it's as if it was JB welded or super glued on there. Absolutely will not budge. I would definitely still buy again in the future though except this time without the "removable base".

Nice red dot

by

but the mount could be better.First of all Primary Arms has great customer service and the shipping department is the fastest in the industry. I know this to be factual having ordered from dozens of other online sources. I received my order in less than 4 days to South Florida less than a week before Christmas! The 2 MOA dot in this sight is awesome! It is far better than the 4 MOA dot that is in my Vortex Spitfire red dot. It's a clean dot with no "Comet tail" effect. Plenty of brightness even on the sunny afternoons in South Florida. This red dot is super light and very tiny but does the job as good as much larger red dots. I purchased the Radical Firearms 1/3 co-witness mount to put the scope on. It also does a great job of lining up my Diamondhead polymer back-up sights. The Radical Firearms mount is good quality as well but I'm glad I only paid $20 for it (thanks to Primary Arms offering a package deal on mounts when you buy the red dot) it's not worth the list price of $60. The bolt that holds it on your rail is threaded the entire length. Which could scratch your rail. A better mount would have a smooth bolt or even a square shaft to insure it locks tightly to your rail. It's not bad but certainly not worth the retail price of $60. Over all I'm very pleased with this combination and would recommend it to others.

Brightness setting is awful

by

Let me start by saying I love primary arms red dots. I have one on all the AR's I have. As for this new one it's a bust at least for me. Went to the range today to shoot a match and I found that I have to turn the setting all the way up to 11 to be able to use it when it's bright outside. I could not even see the dot on settings 6 and below. I have the older MD-O6L model and that thing rocks. Setting 11 on the new sight is about the same brightness as setting 6 on the MD-O6L.

Seems good

by

dead battery3.5* The dot seems to be pretty good for the price. The dot itself is nice and crisp feels pretty sturdy without being to heavy. Havent been able to take it to the range yet but i suspect it will be fine. One thing that really bothers me was that the red dot arrived turned on. Im sure they do this to test to make sure it works but by leaving it on the battery was completely dead when it arrived. So i had to make an extra trip to go and buy a battery. Pretty annoying. PA - Sorry about the battery. That is a hassle and something we hate to see. We are sending a couple backup batteries in the mail
