The Microdot, Removable Base, Advanced sight (MD-RB-AD) takes everything learned from the best selling MD-ADS microdot and refines it a step further. The Primary Arms Advanced Micro Red Dot Sight features an estimated 50,000 hours of battery life from the included CR2032 battery, powering an ultra-sharp 2 MOA dot. Fully multicoated lenses and an ultra-low profile emitter ensure a clean sight picture with minimal lens tint. Eleven brightness settings are controlled by the rotary knob on the right side. The first two settings are compatible with night vision units and cannot be seen by the naked eye. The brightest settings are daylight bright. The illumination knob physically stops at “0” with the red dot turned off.

Covered by the Primary Arms lifetime warranty, this red dot sight is designed for use on heavy recoiling firearms such as shotguns and is constructed of 6061 aluminum with a Type II anodized matte black finish. Waterproofing is improved over previous models—for example, the turret caps are now aluminum instead of plastic and tighten down around the O-rings until metal-to-metal contact with the scope body. When removed, the turret caps can be used to adjust windage and elevation. It comes with a removable 1913 MIL STD Picatinny base. With the base removed, the scope body is compatible with industry standard micro mount systems, enabling The Advanced Red Dot to be mounted correctly on a wide variety of firearms.

I have several PA red dots. I have never had one fail during use so I am satisfied with their performance. This is my first with the new circuitry and long battery life. If it holds up for me during long term use, I’ll buy several more.

An obvious upgrade

I wanted to upgrade from my Bushnell TRS-25 specifically for battery-life purposes and didn't feel dropping 1k on an Aimpoint. I picked this up along with the discounted American Defense Quick Detach T1 Micro Mount - Absolute.
Zeroed it at the range and took the optic off the rail to see if it would hold zero and sure enough , it was spot on when I reattached it. Did this about 10 times and every time it was on the bulls eye. Never lost zero.

I ran this optic for a few years on an AR and wasn't kind to it. It got tossed into boats and truck beds and. shot more than 4,000 rounds. Not only did it hold zero with the mount it comes with, but did so when one of the four mounting screws on the sight wasn't even threading. It held zero for three years anyway. I'm gonna warranty it and get a fresh one. Compared to my aimpoint ACO, it doesn't do as good under NV, but def good enough. The two NV modes are just what's needed, but if you find yourself in a high illumination environment, you'll want something better for NV.
Im very impressed. Ordered two more for the .22 and a spare. Time to test it on the FAL.
Not suitable with Ultimak setups.

Don't use with a Ultimak rail setup on a ak. The buildup of heat will cause this optic to begin to malfunction (flickering and noticeable zero shift) after about 100rds. Would most likely be fine in a more traditional setup.

I originally got this to put on my Scorpion Evo, and I liked it so much that I bought one for all my defensive firearms. I now own 5 of these little guys… I was a little hesitant to put one on my shotgun at first, but I am pleasantly surprised of how well it’s holding up. At least 3,000 rounds down range of various shot-shell loads ranging from slugs, buckshot, and birdshot. It’s still holding zero just fine. The battery life is absolutely awesome. I leave all of them on year round at power level 5, and change out the batteries at New Years. This is one of the best products you can get in this price range.
