SI parts ;-)
by Grendelman
I have not finished to many builds with SI parts until now. I got this to try it out and paired it with ASC 6.5 Grendel magazine. It works great and releases the mag quickly for switching them out fast on the go.
I installed this release into my lower and tried it out with my Mag and it locked in perfectly. Just to make sure it had a good hold, I pushed, pulled, and wiggled it to make sure it wouldn't drop the mag in the field.
I would recommend these to anyone looking to upgrade they RH mag release for an Ambi one.
Great magazine release

I've currently got this installed in 3 different AR platforms, and am ordering another right now. I've used this on Mil-Spec lowers with .223/5.56 magazines from Magpul, Hera Arms, Lancer, Hexmag, C-Products, and ASC, as well as 6.5 Grendel Magazines from E-Lander and 7.62x39 mags from C-Products. All have functioned flawlessly, without issue. Magazines lock up tight and don't release unexpectedly. The engagement surface is different than a "milspec" release, but this should be obvious considering this is not a "milspec" product. According to Strike, this is not compatible with ASC or Stag Arms GI magazines, though it works fine with both of my ASC mags, buyer beware.
So close to being great.

The “block” that engages into the mag is just too small. Less contact in that area combined with a weak spring causes the mag to fall out with the slightest tug or shock. I tried using the original button(this one is not drilled/threaded all the way through) and over tightening. My thought was this would compress the spring and put enough pressure on the engagement area to retain the mag. No such luck. I tried several mags(30rd P Mags) and unless empty, they will not stay in the mag well. I love the design and feel but it’s just not functional.
Does what it should

I like this item, but I am only giving it three stars due to the way it feels when it's engaged with your magazine. I also have a Knights Armament Bambi bolt release that feels much more solid(at double the price) I'm still a SI fan, just still getting used to this item/
Works great for an ambi build

Have used this on several rifle and pistol builds. I have not experienced any of the issues reported by the other user. Has worked with several different styles of magazines.
Not for work/ hard use guns

I was not aware when I bought this that the locking tab that engages the magazine is both shallower and smaller than on a standard release and fairly heavily beveled. It will not engage the magazine at all on a colt pattern 9mm lower and will only lock in to some magazines when used in a mil spec 5.56 lower.
The package has a very small disclaimer indicating the part will not work with some GI magazines, but that disclaimer is not in the online listing.
This might be worth using if you want a lighter and smoother release of a magazine and are willing to accept a narrower range of compatible magazines.
