The Strike Industries Extended Charging Handle Latch adds texturing and increased surface area to any mil-spec AR-15 charging handle, improving leverage and providing positive indexing for more reliable manipulation — without replacing the entire charging handle. Built to fit all standard mil-spec charging handles including the SI ARCH, this AR-15 charging handle latch is a simple, low-cost upgrade for any AR-15 platform.
The Strike Industries Extended Charging Handle Latch is an AR-15 replacement latch made from lightweight aluminum with an enlarged, textured surface for improved leverage and positive indexing, compatible with all standard mil-spec charging handles.
The enlarged surface area provides more contact area than a standard mil-spec latch, making it easier to index and actuate the handle reliably during the charging stroke. Texturing improves grip and control in any weather condition, where a smooth latch surface would reduce traction. Lightweight aluminum construction adds minimal weight to the existing charging handle. The ergonomic design provides a smooth charging motion while the extended profile adds an aggressive look to the AR rifle.

I bought a dozen of these on sale and put them heavily used AR’s. I use these on scoped AR’s and work well. I bought a fancy T handle once and honestly they’re over rated and we could all agree over priced. These supply the leverage you need without all the extra cost and moving parts. Simple, cheap and durable

Convert Mil-Spec to "Decent."

This will convert your mil-spec charging handle to something much more usable. This will reduce the frequency of dragging your knuckles across the lower. I like that.
I had to subtract a star for the lack of instructions. What I figured to be straight forward appeared to have one caveat, the roll pin is one-way. I recommend searching YouTube for "charging handle latch replacement repair."

Price caught my eye and they're not so big they snag on anything but big enough for a firm grip when shooting.
Hint when installing, wrap channel pliers in painter's tape and "squeeze" them in after oiling the pin. The tape will protect the finish and the pliers provide the right leverage to get the pin through.
No brainer, get the extended handle.

My scope sits very close to the charging handle, so I could spend about $50 for a new charging handle or about $10 for for the latch. It was a no brainer for me. Get the latch. It’s easy to install and works well.
