Note: For AKs that originally used gas tubes that do not have holes in them, such as the Romanian WASR-10. Will be slightly shorter than original gas tube, this is normal and will not effect function.
Fits:
- AK Variants with standard weight barrel and standard removable gas tube (roughly 7" in length, will vary slightly between rifles).
- With separate barrel shims, will fit 5.45x39 and 5.56 NATO caliber AKs. Minor fitment may be required.

This heavy duty mount replaces the original steel gas tube and upper handguard, so it adds less than one ounce to the weight of the rifle, making it by far the lightest optic mount installation for the Kalashnikov. The forward positioning of the optic gives you faster, easier and more natural targeting while maintaining your full field of view. Multiple target or moving target engagements, with both eyes open, become second nature. The UltiMAK AK optic mount rarely if ever needs to be removed to clean the rifle, so you need not worry about loss of zero. Since the mount is clamped to the barrel and not jammed in between the gas block and the sight block like the original gas tube, several UltiMAK users have reported an improvement in their AK's accuracy.

Is it the absolute best option to mount an optic to an AK? Probably not. You can you go and find some hard-to-find Zenitco stuff for that. But is the Ultimak tried and tested and phenomenal for the price? Absolutely. If you don't have/want a side rail mount, this is the best option.
It's solid. It's easy to install. It's solid. It wont break the bank. It holds zero. And did I mention it's solid?
The only cons:
1) it does get hot. Be careful where you put your finger. I don't buy in to the "it'll cook your optic!" urban legend, but it'll give you a good blistering if you touch it.
2) if you're putting it on a PSA AK get ready to do some good ol' Soviet era gunsmithing. Something about the height of the PSA front gas block doesn't work with the Ultimak out of the box. It's an easy fix though - cut 3 to 4 (3 worked, 4 was perfect) rectangular strips out of a beer/soda can, stack them on top of the barrel, and then mount the Ultimak.

Very happy with this as a mount for a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot. Co-witnesses beautifully. Not the easiest install but well worth it. Installed with Magpul MOE hand guard.
Just what I need for my Old Eyes!

This mount was exactly as described. I put it on my Romanian AK and it works great. I have an after market stock set on my AK, so I had to do some hand fitting to the lower handguard for this mount to fit, but I am fine with that. Follow the directions exactly as printed, and it should work great for you. I have put about 100 rounds through it with NO malfunctions. Sig Romeo 5 in the low mount works great on it. Now I can shoot better with the old AK. Only reason I rated at 4, is that I cannot use my iron sights with this mount. If I adjust sights up so I can see them thru the red dot, irons shoot Way to high. That might just be due to my specific red dot I mounted.

Haven't fire it yet but installation was easy if you have basic knowledge. Fit with my Magpul akm lower handguard looks really nice now. Pioneer arms sporter ak

Saiga 7.62x39 Ultimak M1B

This is a must have for any AKM. I bought this for 2 reasons. To reduce overall weight and to be able to mount my PA red dot scout style. By removing the side mount rail, the weight difference was significant. The gap this creates is part of the design. Ultimak says to mount with an even gap on both sides however I mounted mine almost all the way forward for reliability purposes leaving a larger gap towards the sight block. I did this to ensure the Piston will reliably be guided I to the gas block each time it's fired. Would probably be fine either way. This works perfectly on my Saiga 7.62x39. Primary Arms has great prices, amazing customer service and fast shipping. Highly recommend both the Ultimak M1B and Primary Arms.
Great red dot mount option in most instances

This is a great red dot mounting option as long as one doesn't do a multi mag dump and REALLY heat up the tube.....hard on optics and also brings into play "thermal disruption" where heat alters the optics red dot positioning relative to point of impact. Also if one values Jim Fuller's advice (from Rifle Dynamics fame), that very knowledgeable gentleman suggests mounting this railed gas tube with the front end against the gas bloc......supposedly aids in shot to shot accuracy but the provided instructions tell one to mount the tube with equa distant space on each end.....good device as long as super heat can be avoided.
