I used this barrel in my latest 14.5 build with the Spike's Tactical dynacomp as the muzzle device. Just over 16" and the barrel performs so well. Having alot of fun with this one. Groups at 1" or less at 50yds with irons. Easy install, great barrel - its cold hammer forged - and the same one used in the M249 SAW. Built to last - perfect service from Primary Arms. These barrels are amazingly well made and shoot beautifully. Can easily hold the 10-ring on an SR-1 target at 100 yards using 55 grain FMJ hand loads. Shoots many brands of factory XM-193 type ammo equally well although some use better projectiles. Much better groups with 69 grain match grade hand loads. Had a Voodoo Tactical Manimal FH pinned and welded to bring the barrel to 16 1/8". Gas blocks slide right over the smaller dia FH so it can be installed later or removed for service. The 14 1/2 Spikes/FN barrel feels much more compact than one might expect compared to a 16" barrel plus a FH. A YHM set screw gas block mounted under a free float rail rounds out the upper build. The barrel is a real military grade part and should last for many years with an estimated service life of 20K rounds. The only downside is the price although they do go on sale a couple of times a year. But the Spikes/FN CHF will probably outlast 2 standard grade barrels.

I am a huge spikes tatical fan but with this barrel the M4 feed ramps did not line up perfectly. this is with a spikes upper reciever. there was a small lip that your fingernal would catch on. Rifle functioned flawless but I still was not happy with a lip on one of my feedramps so I had to take a dremel to a brand new barrel. Not something that should happen using quality, matching brand parts. It was a very quick fix easier than returning it. I'm sure PA would have taken care of me. Strong note accuracy is sub moa :-)

I finally shot this barrel last week. I had shots touching at 50 yards and 1/2-3/4 inch groups at 100 yards if I did my part. It assembled with a DSA stripped upper perfectly. Very nice compromise between a govt profile and a lightweight. I am very happy with it. I will write another review at 500 rounds.
