Spike's Tactical
Spike's Tactical Frequently Asked Questions
The Dynacomp is a muzzle device designed to reduce felt recoil and muzzle climb for faster follow up shots. It does so with ports facing all directions as well as forward to balance the dispersion of gasses and create a flatter recoiling rifle. The Dynacomp muzzle brake is designed for 5.56 rifles but an AK-47 Dynacomp is available as well. If you are building a rifle with a 14.5 inch barrel, the Spike's Dynacomp Extreme can be permanently attached to bring the barrel length to 16 inches. Also offered is the Dynacomp Shorty for people that are building a compact rifle and don’t want to sacrifice performance. However, muzzle devices are pointless if you don't have a barrel to attach them to.
Spike’s barrels come in a variety of different lengths, calibers, and profiles, so you can find the perfect one for your build. Their barrels are cold hammer forged and some feature long-lasting Nitride finishes. In addition, they are made from 41V50 Chrome Moly steel and have a chrome lining, making their barrels some of the most durable on the market. Whether you are building a 9mm pistol caliber carbine, .300 Blackout pistol, or 5.56 rifle, a Spike's Tactical barrel is the way to go.
In keeping with the philosophy of manufacturing components that can withstand heavy use for many years, Spike's BCGs are made from 8620 carpenter steel with a 9310 steel bolt. They are coated in a highly durable Nickel Boron coating that makes them extremely slick and easy to wipe clean.
These BCGs are designed to last thousands of rounds in the harshest conditions, so you never have to worry about it failing. Their lightweight BCG is also a great option for building a race gun as it allows for faster cycling and a shorter lock time. For peak performance, a Nickel Boron bolt carrier group is one of the best upgrades you can make.
When you hear the Spike's Tactical name, you can’t help but think of the iconic red spider logo that they built their brand around. Spike's is known throughout the firearms industry as being a company that takes bold and innovative steps to stay ahead of the competition.
From a standard M4 LE rifle to the Pipe Hitters Union rifle, every firearm and component they make is meticulously designed and machined to ensure a quality product reaches the hands of their customers. They aren’t afraid to stray from the path of 5.56 either. Spike's offers the Recluse 9mm pistol caliber carbine with an integrally suppressed barrel that reaches 16 inches so it only requires one tax stamp. If you like .30 caliber but want something with a little more punch, the Roadhouse Precision rifle in .308 is the one for you.
Every AR-15 or AR style rifle they offer is made in America by experts who believe cutting corners is not only neglecting their product but neglecting their customers. The Spike's Tactical mission is simple, 'To build the highest quality products and offer them at the best possible price to the consumer.' After all, they are a company made up of shooting enthusiasts that would never sell a product they wouldn’t use themselves.
Whether you want to buy a complete rifle or build your own, Spike's has the parts you need. With a stripped lower, you can build the rifle of your dreams. They have lower receiver designs like the Snowflake and Rare Breed Spartan lower; a billet lower receiver in the shape of a spartan helmet. All you need is a lower parts kit and you are another step closer to finishing your build. Or you get ahead of the game and start with a complete lower receiver with stock, trigger, and parks kit installed. Either way, you have a variety of lower receiver designs to choose from.
Magazine wells are essentially a blank canvas for manufacturer logos, however, Spike's uses it for creative, and sometimes funny, designs. The Snowflake lower receiver quickly rose to the top as one of Spike's most popular designs. With a unicorn logo where the spider should be and a unique color fill option, why wouldn't you want to build a rifle around it? But if you're looking for something a little more subtle, they have some of that too.
The Crusader lower receiver is a bit more tame with a simple crusader shield displayed on the magazine well and Latin safety selector markings. This lower is forged from high quality 7075-T6 aluminum but unlike most forgings, has an integrated trigger guard.
If comics are your thing, then you can get a lower receiver with the Punisher logo displayed on the magazine well. If you are super lucky and have access to an RDIAS, then you can actually use the third selector marking, because Spike's lowers have a low shelf, making them compatible with legally registered auto sears.
The Calico Jack lower receiver has all the features of the stripped punisher lower like the RDIAS compatibility, 7075-T6 aluminum, and hardcoat anodization, but has a skull and crossing swords logo. With selector markings like Parley, Plunder, and Arrrr, how can you not smile when shooting a rifle built on this lower? Spike's has lower receivers for everyone and even more than listed here. Once you pick out your favorite lower, you can throw on a upper receiver.
Spike's upper receivers are machined out of the same 7076-T6 aluminum as the lowers and are finished with a durable type III hardcoat anodization. They come pre-assembled with ejection port cover and forward assist, however there is a model called the 'No Provision' that gets rid of both. This complete upper receiver assembly features laser engraved T-markings and the Spike’s spider logo. The M4 upper only weighs 8.5 ounces and is a great option for completing your lightweight AR build.
