The flagship Gen II 1-6x24 is a tough act to follow, so Primary Arms worked hard to make incremental but real improvements. The Gen III is 18mm shorter (10.04in long), weighs 1.88 ounces less (16.9 oz. total), and has an additional 10 MOA of internal adjustment compared to the older model. The ACSS® reticle has also been improved, now featuring a chevron center aiming point rather than a dot.
Partial red reticle illumination is provided by a single (included) CR2032 battery, and a spare battery is included inside the windage turret cap. A total of 11 settings take the reticle all the way up to daylight bright. All lenses are fully multicoated for maximum light transmission and the 6063 aluminum body is Type II hard anodized in matte black.

PA SLX Gen 3 1x6 scope
by Chuck M
Received one as a gift from my daughters for Christmas and couldn’t be happier with it. Clear glass and I love the reticle. BDC is right on out to the 300 yards that my range tops out at. Great optic!
Great budget optic

This is a great scope.. retical is very bright if needed..glass is clean , crisp , clear.. the weight is spot on for a scope this size.. love the ACSS reticle.. it works great for jump shooting hogs at 20 yds or whacking coyotes at 200 yds.. bottom line is that this scope just work great for it’s designed purpose …
Thank you Primary Arms !!

Sirs, I cannot give you an accurate review of this product due to the fact that I initially purchased the SLX 1-8X24 SFP Illuminated ACSS Reticle scope. I absolutely loved it. Primary Arms then put the 1-6X24 on sale for $179.99.
I know for a fact, and you should assume so also, that down the road, you will purchase another AR or some type of corresponding firearm to mount this said scope onto. So I then purchased the 'on sale' scope and mount. If you see it on 'sale', dont blow it off or you will regret it. If I see it on sale again, I WILL buy another one !!!! Russell F.
PA Gen III v Vortex SE Gen II
by hoosierone
I purchased this PA Gen III to compare to my Vortex Strike Eagle Gen II.
The PA is more compact, optics about the same as SE II. Eye relief a non-issue when mounted on AR with telescoping stock - so not a consideration. SE II came with a throw lever (rudimentary) and good flip up lens caps. PA feels better built.
Bottom line. Vortex SEII was cheaper and came with throw lever and good lens covers. The zoom ring on the PA III is so stiff that I am unable to turn it without great effort - needs throw lever. By the time you add in the cost of the lens caps and throw lever the PA III is about 50% more expensive than the SEII. I decided to run with the Vortex for these reasons. If PA threw in some lens caps (even cheap ones) and a throw lever for the same price I'd probably run with it and give it 5 stars because it is more compact than the Vortex.
I've not evaluated either model for ruggedness.
Great....but...

Great optic. However, turning the illumination dial is almost impossible with one hand. It's way to tight to be used efficiently
Great first scope

The scope is clear and distinct, and feels durable for its price. All of the adjustments are easy to use, the reticle illumination is great and can be turned on by spinning the knob either direction.I was afraid the center chevron inside of the horseshoe would be hard to pick up but that is not the case. The scope was fairly accurate out of the box, it was packaged securely and ultimately a reassuring purchase once all was said and done. I’ve only put enough rounds to zero it but I’ll probably get another down the road.
Perhaps a lemon.

When I focus the reticle the view thru the scope is out of focus. When I make the view thru the scope in focus the reticle is very out of focus. Parallax is about 2 MOA. This particular scope is not usable. Returned for replacement/repair or upgrade to GLx.
Note: It was good to speak with you on this and that we got you taken care of. Please let us know if there is anything else we may help you with.
Wonderful Scope

I like everything about this scope, it has very clear glass and the red reticle is daylight-bright without blooming. The ACSS Reticle is all that it's claimed to be. I'm buying a higher-power PA model for my new 6.5 Grendel build.
Can’t beat primary arms!!

Primary Arms SLx 1-6x24 SFP Rifle Scope Gen III - Illuminated ACSS Reticle - 5.56 / 5.45 / .308
by Asclepius23
I am completely new to the AR-15 platform, and I just bought my first. I researched extensively between the Vortex Strike Eagle and the Primary Arms SLx 1-6x24 SFP Rifle Scope. Of course these two scopes were in the price range I was interested in spending at the time. Both scopes had high attributes and specs as well as functionality, not to mention, the reviews. I found it to be a very tough decision but, ultimately, I ended up purchasing the Primary Arms scope, and for less money. I am not, in the lease regretful I did so! Both scopes are top notch for their class and price point. However, in comparing the two, I found the optics on the Strike Eagles to possibly surpass the Primary Arms scope. It's so close, it's hard to tell with my eye. The illuminated reticle on the Vortex seems to be much darker than the Primary Arms scope, which is quite bright... not the brightest, but close. Primary Arms scope is my choice for my purposes. Second to none!
