The Primary Arms 4-14x44mm illuminated rifle scope was our first step into first focal plane (FFP) optics and remains one of the most cost-effective options on the market. Having a reticle stay 'true' through the entire magnification range opens a world of possibility for hunters, marksman, and competitors everywhere. Add in "built like a tank" construction and a 3-year warranty, and it's easy to see why this scope is so popular.

At the heart of the 4-14x44mm rifle scope is our advanced first focal plane ACSS HUD DMR .308 reticle. Tuned specifically for popular .308 Winchester loads, the ACSS HUD DMR .308 reticle offers a remarkable number of advanced features in a clean and intuitive design. Leads for moving targets out to a full 600 yards, wind leads, ranging, and bullet drop out to 1,000 yards, and even a MIL-ranging system are built in to the clean design. An illuminated horseshoe and center chevron allow for remarkably fast engagement of close-in targets. At any range, hits are intuitive without any need for math or digging through data books! Simply range, hold, and break the shot!
A scope that won’t hold up to real world use won’t do any good, so we built our 4-14x44mm FFP tactical rifle scope to last with a heavy-duty aircraft grade 6063 aluminum body and 30mm main tube. Waterproof, shockproof, and fog resistant, this scope is perfectly at home on an AR-15 or your favorite hunting rifle. Even better, the MIL/MIL turrets track correctly through their full 17.5 MIL adjustment range, allowing for confident adjustments for shooters who prefer to count their clicks. With clear glass, heavy duty construction, and a true first focal plane reticle that can be leveraged at every magnification, the 4-14x44mm rifle scope from Primary Arms offers shooters a versatile and effective rifle scope, covered by our 3 year warranty!
Note: While the ACSS HUD DMR .308 reticle is compatible with some .223 Rem and 5.56 NATO loadings, we recommend the dedicated ACSS-HUD-DMR-5.56 model for guns chambered in these calibers.

Customer service is A+++++
by Brian -
I was waiting to test it before I wrote a review, given the situation, that will be awhile. The first scope I ordered was defective. I called customer service, and had the replacement in one week. What I'd like to say is
that Primary Arms customer service is GREAT! Possibility the best I've encountered I will be buying from them again.
High Value Choice

THREE YEAR REVIEW
I've used this scope for three years on a 16" bolt action .308. The scope has been carried up and down hills, back and forth to the range, strapped into a hunting backpack, smacked on rocks, dropped, hit against trees in the field, rained on etc...somewhat hard field use and it still works. The reticle is awesome once you learn it.
I compared it to an $850 US optics scope and $450 Leupold. As it got darker it became clear the quality of glass you can get without paying for a big name brand. The clarity and light transmission of the PA scope was MUCH better than both others and maintained visibility 10-20 minutes longer with a clarity that allowed target identification on a dark background.
Negative notes: The turret clicks are not as crisp as higher $ scopes. The turrets don't lock or have a zero stop! After zeroing rifle, you must slide the turret back to zero and recheck often in the field to avoid shifting. The illumination drains batteries fast in my exp.
Un-Beatable at this Price!

Crystal clear glass, decent eye relief, and the amazing ACSS reticle I've known for years. I put the sun shades and butler creek flip caps on, bikini's are fair at this price. With these and a 25rd mag I can go from 100-200yd shooting clays to 300-600 smashing cinder blocks without batting an eye thanks to the ACSS Reticle. No qualms or issues.. but things to know in advance. The zoom ring is tight which I like and perhaps with more use (Ive only used them the last 4 months every weekend..) it may get easier, only one of my turrets( windage on one) isn't exactly "0" as others have stated, and finally with the sunshades anything beyond 3 on brightness I start to get starbursting.. I thought it was maybe a bad scope but its both. With a bright sunny day and no sun shade you'll have no problem seeing reticle or lit up horseshoe. Both on UTG ACCU-SYNC30mm low profile mounts are absolutely perfect height. Get ONE! or TWO!
I own everything I see
by Leo -
I can't believe how clever this scope is. I have been shooting .308 upto 500 yards. I own anything I see. no math, no thinking. too easy. my favorite.
Awesome scope! Put mine on a RPR in 308. Love the ACSS. Highly recommend. Buy it.
Another Great scope for the money
by Ken -
As with my other 4-14x44 scope from Primary Arms: My only gripe is the turret marks don't like up exactly on the turret caps so when you return to zero it's always slightly off the mark on the turret. But other than that...For the money this is a fantastic scope! Very clear and very feature rich for the price! Excellent reticle for a .308 rifle!
Amazing budget scope
For the price, you just can’t beat it. Put this glass on my Savage 10fcp-sr in .308 with the goal of having 1 MOA for under $1000. That has been achieved about $200 under budget.
This is the best value optic I’ve found. Period. The reticle is extremely intuitive and easy to use. Can hit man sized targets out to 600 yards with relative ease using the mil dots.
Glass is perfectly clear to me. Focus adjustment seems on point. Clicks are clear and precise. Quality is great on this optic. I honestly don’t know how PA can offer this scope at this price.
Primary Arms gets my highest praise for making these top of the line optics with this fantastic reticle and not charging a price that the everyday average guy like me can't afford. I would absolutely choose this optic over other optics 5x the price. The quality is on par with the top name optics and the reticle is the best. I am completely sold on Primary arms optics and doubt that I will ever own anything else. Great job Primary Arms.

Outstanding scope that punches well above its weight. Glass is clear and turrets are smooth. Easy to get zeroed and maintains zero. Set on 4X it is also useful at mid and even close range with instinctive / reflexive type shooting. Put eyes on the target and bring the rifle up and it all falls into place. This works well enough that I'm not in any hurry to put a piggy back reflex / red-dot in place even though I paired the scope up with the PEPR mount with the Picatinny tops. Can't say enough good about it so far. Looking forward to some long range shooting to shake out ranging with the ACSS HUD reticle.
Does it get any better?
by Shane -
I recently bought 2 of these for my savage axis xpii and ruger ranch rifle. Quality is great, glass clarity is amazing even in lower light conditions. Nicely packaged and quick shipping. Cannot say enough good about these scopes, i sold my vortexs for them and im glad! You cannot find any better at this price point. I will add 1 con. If you have a savage axis with the stock 2 piece scope base, you will need to order a 1 piece rail mount. The alumination knob will be in your way of the rear scope ring and you will not be able to mount it. Cant really fault the scope for that but its good to know. Other then that customer service cannot get any better. Thank you PA. Will buy from this site again!

Rem 700 AAC .308

Loves this scope! I’ve had is for about 3 yrs now. Research ed a lot of FFP scopes, found this one at a reasonable price but continued to follow review until making the jump. Only wish I’d bought it sooner. Great optics, hold zero, easy to use, and rock solid. I’ve made several shots at 4-600 yds with ease. Buying another for an AR-10 build.
4-14x on scar 17
by Christopher -
Mounted this with the primary arms mount onto my scar 17 and zeroed it in with 3 shots with no bore sight. Shot 60 rounds through it and the zero stayed right on the mark. Do wish the turrets were covered but being able to set them back to zero to were you set it at is nice. Very clear scope for a fogging TN evening right after a storm could count 2 inch spots on a horse at 300 yards. I woukd say it gives my vx6 Leo scope a good run for its money. If it wasnt for a old marine friend i would never had known these guys. Definitely very happy with the scope and shipping will buy again if i ever get another rifle or ar
PRIMARY ARMS 4-14X44MM RIFLESCOPE - ACSS HUD DMR .308/.223 RETICLE
by Bill -
I bought the scope because i have heard good things about it.I have purchased manny parts from Primary Arms they always have fast shipping. So I mounted it on my AR10 308 it took 3 shots to dail it in the scope is unbelievable glass is clear as can be I would highly recommended.
Best scope for the money.
by Mark -
This is the 4th one of these 4-14 scopes I've bought. I've several different reticles, and choice varies per application. My sniper rifle uses the R-reticle, which makes the mils easier to see, and has wind and movement on the bottom. One shot zero is easy on these scopes. Really like the chevron tip. It gives much more precise aiming. Scope is totally repeatable when turning turrets. At the end of a session I just turn it back to zero and check with one shot at a hundred. Always goes back to original zero. Image is clearer than Leupold. Love these scopes.
Good scope, will be buying more in the future.
I had a good review written, but the website deleted it and I don't want to spend another 20 minutes regurgitating it. So, sorry. Its a good scope, good for fast accurate type of shooting, not calculating and dialing. If you want it for 3 gun or similar styles, its perfect. Also durable as well. That's about as good as it gets for my review v2.0.
I had bought your 5x optic and was very pleased but now i had upped the ante and bought a 308(ruger 762) and needed some better glass. So after looking around a lot and counting coins I found my way back to u guys and thank goodness. The glass in this scope is on par with everything i picked up at at least twice the price and as good as all my buddies with their fancy dancy scopes. But whats really impressive is that when u learn the reticle your ability to get off the 1st shot at an unknown distance and make a good combat hit. It brings a smile to my face when i know that I'm not a great shot but next to me is a 1200 dollar rig and he is cutting his eyes at me!! It may not have some of the frills but it's <300.
I have had this thing for about 7 months now. It has held zero. The glass isn't bad. The reticle is great. I have only tested it to 600 yards but it has been spot on for holds and ranging estimates. This thing is also tough. I may have accidently ran over it with my car when it was in just a soft case. It came out of it completely fine. I also tried the 100 yard box drill spinning the turrets. Measurements were spot on and it returned to zero.
Update 450 yards
Used with Freedom Munitions 178 gr Hornady AMAX on a small propane tank (about 12in x 12in) at 450 yards. Bracketed between 400 and 500 yard marks with a small offset for winds. Nailed It! Then my son did and then my brother. AWESOME!
Great scope for the price
Put this on my ar-10 build with the aero precision ultra light scope mount. Took me about 6 shots at 50yds to get it dialed in. Then immediately went out to 100yds and put the next 4 shots inside the 10 ring. Great scope for the price really clear and I had no problems seeing where each shot hit at 100yds. I had my reservations about it being a "cheap scope" but it's as good as some higher priced scopes I've shot. I'm pretty excited about taking it out beyond 200yds.
Awesome for price

If you were wondering about buying this scope go ahead and buy it you will like it I am very pleased with it the glass is very clear everything works really good the Chevron takes a little getting used to for groups but it's not bad lineup with Federal gold medal match 175 grain shoot it out to 200 yards able to hit 4" Circles cannot wait to try it at further distances
Amazing Scope - especially for under $300
I was skeptical because of the "Made In China". However there were so many great reviews that I decided to give it a try. I mounted one on my M1A and LOVED it. Unfortunately I've only been able to shoot out to 200 yards (that is as far as my personal range goes). I decided to get one to mount on my Ruger 308 as well. The only tweak (or option) that might be in order is covered turrets because with a 200 yard zero and all the other info on the reticle you should be able to set it and forget it.
Primary Arms scopes are awesome.
I purchased the Primary Arms 4x14x44 w/acss reticle to put on my Savage Hoghunter. First thing I have to say is if you are having doubts how good the optics are have no worries. I've now compared mine to several high end scopes and am very pleased with my scope. Optics are very clear . With all the features you get you cannot beat this scope. I did take a little getting use to the chevron compared to crosshairs reticle but not a big deal. The only feature that's not included on the scope is a zero stop but there is a YouTube video which shows you how to make one and where to order the parts. It cost me a total of $6.53 and now I have a zero stop. For as little as it costs this should be something Primary Arms should look into including with there scopes now. I am super pleased with the one I ordered and I am going to order one for my ar next.
Best in it's class.

Only one dislike...this scope needs lockable turrets or a model with the ACSS HUD reticle without the exposed turrets (the reticle should do the trick) otherwise EXCELLENT for the money.
